Sporting and recreation organisations must implement control measures to eliminate or minimise the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the health and safety of their workers, volunteers, athletes, spectators and others. This is a requirement under work, health and safety (WHS) laws.   

You should follow the advice of WHS authorities in your state or territory and refer to your state or territory health authority for further information on specific restrictions in place under public health directions or orders in your state or territory. 

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has published the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment which provides advice on how to resume high performance and professional sport, and community and individual sport. This framework aligns with the National principles for the resumption of sport and recreation activities.

Sporting and recreation organisations should refer to these resources for information about what to do to resume sport and recreation activities.
